ARTIST STATEMENT
While painting I try to create a different shapes of my concerns, feelings, anxiety, joy and confusion ... they all turn into a spiritual source of energy I try to release in the painting.
My recent work tend toward simplicity. I no longer feel the need of many details that used to fill my paintings ... my work has become clearer ... simpler ... transparent ... I use black color in most of my paintings because I feel it has an inspirational symbolic power that other colors don't have.
I think my freedom and insistence on experimenting have played a major role in developing my work. My continuous research on Arab and international experiences has enriched my vision and helped me form vast visual culture that might have marked my work in some way.
I do not like to explain my painting and if I did it will not be useful ... a work of art can never be explained ... it's like the dream construct, it is a translation of our deepest inner necessities.
A REAL WORK OF ART WILL ALWAYS REMAIN A HESITANT AND UNCERTAIN ATTEMPT BY THE ARTIST TO TRANSLATE HIS INNER MYSTERIOUS WORLD AND THIS ATTEMPT WILL ALWAYS BE THE SYMBOL OF A TRUTH THAT CANNOT BE FULLY DESCRIBED BY WORDS.
Biography
Salwa Zeidan is a Lebanese self-taught artist who dedicated herself to learning art history through personal research, books and visits to hundreds of museums, Galleries and art exhibitions and attending workshops and lectures by famous artists and visiting studios all around the world.
Her journey and love for Art helped her acquire a progressive and personal technique that has become recognized in the artworks and has earned her multiple awards.
Salwa began exhibiting her works in many ountries since 1989, she also participated in many art fairs and biennales around the world, today; her paintings can be found in Galleries and private collections in many countries including USA, Canada, Switzerland, Italy, France, London, Spain, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia , Kuwait and Lebanon to name a few.
Her abstract Minimalist work stems from her spiritual nature and reflects her strong spiritual beliefs and ongoing search for inner light, consciousness & peace.
In 1999, she was invited by the Royal Academy of Science International in London to hold an exhibition dedicated to peace and entitled "Culture for Peace" and since then, Salwa has become an active endorser of peace; she dedicates all her private exhibitions to the cause, and 2006 she became the Ambassador of the Global organization World Peace Marker Project (WPMP) to Lebanon.
Salwa has won many prizes including the fourth prize in the Florence Biennale - Italy, among 960 artists from 72 countries.
In 2007 she was invited as a speaker at the third Women Peace Conference in Dallas USA, in 2008 she went back to Abu Dhabi and reopened her Art Gallery where she lives and work today.

- Member of IAC, Barcelona, Spain.
- Member and Special Advisor for the AIAP UNESCO, France.

- Love Ambassador to Lebanon
- Art Director for Byblos International Contemporary Art & Culture Association.
- Director of Abu Dhabi International Sculpture Symposium, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
She now lives and works in Abu Dhabi UAE where she Manages her Art Gallery.
